This is such a beautiful perspective, and I'm very much the same! 😚💛 It's not morbid but rather a deep respect for life and nature I think, you explained it in such a caring way

Thank you so much 🫶🏻 indeed, it’s just respect for other beings and life itself

when I was fourteen, there was this dead sparrow that rested on the road to my bus stop. it must've laid there for days, maybe even a week or two. every day, when I walked home, I'd promise myself I'd bury it the next day. I never ended up doing that. a coyote must've eaten it or something. that was quite a while ago, but I still feel guilty whenever I see dead racoons on the side of the road. I don't know how to drive past dead animals and just hope the blood doesn't get on my tires. I've never really though about it, though, not until now. your writing is so so beautiful, thank you so much for sharing <3

I’m so sorry you didn’t get to bury him :( but don’t feel guilty, you still kept him in your thoughts and sometimes it’s all that matters. Even if he was eaten by a coyote or just completely decayed, it’s still the natural course of nature. Thank you for the compliment, it means a lot to me <3

Such a gentle post on a weird topic. On my many walks I would find a tiny dead bird, mouse or the occasional butterfly. I would usually get them out of the pathway and put them in some grass patch with some pebbles. No clue why, but feels like they might use them. :)

What a beautiful post and eye-opening perspective. Thank you for it.

Substack often presents me with some strange coincidences. Yesterday, I saw a small dead snake. It mesmerized me because it looked silver, and its eyes looked blue. I even wondered if it could be a toy. Later, I researched it and discovered that the snake looked that way simply because it was dead. It was an ordinary grass snake, but its skin and eyes had changed texture, which altered their colors. I took a photo of it. If you want, I can share it.

Thank you so much for your comment! That is a beautiful coincidence

Wowww what a beautiful piece. Very relatable to me as a fellow weird animal obsessed kid, I was just writing about relating to urban foxes in my journal before coming across your page. It’s nice to see other people who find beauty and meaning in something that others don’t care about. Awesome work :) 🫶

I wrote a story and I would love to use an illustration of a dead robin. If you read the story, you will understand and I will cite you in the piece and attribute the illustration to you if you'd honor me.
